“Sherri did a fantastic job helping me discover the true identity of my father’s mother. She used her expertise in DNA research to solve this puzzle for us. She was extremely prompt and professional. We couldn’t be happier with the dedication she put into our genealogy research.” -S.G. (Colorado)
“With the recent birth of the new “branch” of our family tree, I was highly motivated to get a clear understanding of my father’s lineage. Word of mouth was, “they came to New York from Germany and Austria, maybe Romania,” but no further details were shared or remembered. I started using a DIY web service about two years ago, but once last names started showing up misspelled in census records, I hit a wall and knew I needed help. Sherri swooped in and in no time at all, she traced our family back to several specific regions in Europe. She found so many useful documents in a short amount of time that gave us a glimpse into our family history — results that we never thought were possible. I cannot tell you how excited I was to receive Sherri’s “sneak peeks” along the way, it was like watching my family history come to life! The final report was thorough and incredibly insightful, with recommendations for how we can continue our exploration. Sherri, on behalf of my family, thank you for solving a centuries-old mystery so that the next generation knows our roots.” -L.H. (Colorado)
“Sherri is an amazing and talented genealogist. Her attention to detail and her communication skills are outstanding. She helped me figure out why I had ‘inherited’ a death certificate from a ‘mystery woman’ who apparently had no familial relationship with me. Sherri educates you about her process, suggests areas for further research and she wrote an amazing report with hyperlinks for me to access resources on my own. I highly recommend her services. She is prompt, professional, friendly, and an experienced genealogist.” -L.E. (Colorado)
“Sherri did a tremendous job tracing my complex and unexpected genealogy. I never thought it possible to determine my ancestry line, but Sherri was able to determine my ancestral lineage and explain facets of the investigative process in a clear manner. She was so easy to work with–patient, understanding and responsive. Sherri has special talent and skills that are remarkably valuable to those needing help determining their genealogy.” -M.G. (Colorado)

“I dove into my genealogy rather haphazardly, digging in through Ancestry and finding what seemed to be some fairly strong links to a passenger on the Mayflower. The application for membership into the General Society of Mayflower Descendants demands detailed evidence for relationships among all individuals in a lineage. In order to find the necessary evidence I turned to Sherri of Tangled Web Genealogy. Sherri put her professional skills to work. She identified and acquired essential documents and provided a detailed organized spreadsheet of all documents that were necessary and acquired. In her search she even found additional information that led to a second Mayflower line. The extent to which she sought information and the organization of all necessary items was ideal and made the application process a pleasant one. I can’t recommend her services enough.” -B.W. “I was adopted at birth, and after 20+ years of unsuccessful searching for my bio-father, I had a DNA match to a half brother. Then my search started in earnest and in the process a connection with Sherri occurred. Sherri was diligent and dedicated in sorting out what this connection meant and who was a possible bio-father. Sherri used her highly honed, advanced skills to narrow the possibility to one family. This process was fragile and carefully done with respect to all. I am so very grateful to Sherri, as are all of our family members. She committed the time to finding and connecting our family. We are all so very appreciative for her dedication to bringing our family together.” -C.P. (Oregon)
“She has not only solved genealogical problems for me, but has consistently taught me along the way. I hope that in addition to providing genealogical detective work (and man she’s a good detective!) that she’ll consider two other services: teaching classes on both straight up genealogy and using DNA in genealogy, and being a genealogy coach – helping newbies or intermediate genealogists to organize their work and up their game.” -D.S. (Illinois)
“I have been a fortunate recipient of Sherri Steele’s familial DNA and historical research. Through her efforts with my older sister and older brother she located our common father. In this process it was discovered that I am the the younger sibling of a sister in the western United Sates and a brother in northern England. In my discussions with Sherri, based upon her extensive background and education, I learned about the technical aspects of DNA familial relationships. I also learned, and was impressed with, her records of extensive historical research that identified myself as having a common father with my older brother and older sister. Upon learning all of this I did the DNA evaluation that proved beyond a doubt of the family relationships. Finally, what I believe is the most important aspect of Sherri’s’ work was the way she approached me and told me about my newly found brother and sister. As a senior citizen it was quite a shock to learn of additional older siblings. Her approach, her carefully written correspondence, and her telephone calls, made this an extremely positive experience. It was clear to me she fully understood the implications and impact of what she was telling me. In my mind, the early stages of notification and introduction to new family members is a critical component to a successful DNA/ family research experience. I have met my new-found sister and my brother, and their families. We have an exciting and rewarding relationship, including new nephews and nieces. I am truly grateful for all of her hard work and positive approach in finding my new family members.” -C.S. (Colorado)
“I was adopted at birth and I have been researching my family history for 50 years , I managed to find who my father was through Ancestry D.N.A. and close cousin matches. I am from England and learned from my DNA 1st cousin that my father was Canadian, died in 1975 , and that he had 2 other children, both boys. The Canadian record system is almost impossible to access with any degree of success, so ,I contacted Mrs Steele and asked for her assistance in trying to find my 2 half brothers, she narrowed their whereabouts to a particular province in Canada, and after a lot of hard work involving news papers, criminal records and speeding offences, and other avenues of investigations, she found the city in which they both lived which was a great Step forward. I have now sent letters to the addresses she found…” -A.F. (England)
“I was very nervous of tracing my background. Persuaded by my family to do a DNA test, I was anxious what the results would show. I knew my father was American and with the help of a friend in England the trace began. We had great fortune in linking up with Sherri with the profile and whose special talent and hard work in genealogy made all the links. As a result of this a new family (brothers, sister, sister-in-law, nephews, nieces) in America were found and they have visited us from the US recently. Due to Sherri’s special ability we have had an outstanding outcome connecting the English and American families together. We are extremely grateful for what Sherri achieved and we had the pleasure of meeting her along with some of our new found family.” –C.H. (England)
