Photo Animation at MyHeritage.com

Starting with a digital photograph, one can create an animated video using a technology called Deep Nostalgia™ at www.myheritage.com @myheritage_official!

Using this tool I’ve generated an animated image of Blanche M Hunick (1882-1951). See below for the before (still photo) and after (resulting animated video).

The Woman Behind The Photo

Blanche Hunick was born on the 4th of December 1882 in Atchison, Atchison County, Kansas. She was married to Gerome Miller in Oklahoma, and was left a widow in 1910 after only 5 short years of marriage. Blanche moved with her parents and three siblings to Routt county Colorado in about 1911. Sometime after her mother passed away in 1913, Blanche relocated to Boulder Colorado. In 1917 she married Boulder resident Oren Benjamin Shinkle, a widower with 3 grown children – Lloyd, Leta, and Glenn Shinkle. Oren worked as a motorman and later a flagman with the Boulder Street Car company.

Oren’s son Lloyd lost his wife, Viola Mae Shockey, due to complications during childbirth in 1925. Their baby, Richard, survived. Blanche and her husband Oren took on the role of parents, and raised Richard. Oren passed away in 1936, after which Blanche and Richard continued to live in the family home at  2030 Mapleton Ave in Boulder. Blanche died in Boulder on January 15, 1951 and is buried in the historic Columbia Cemetery. #genealogist #genealogy #familyhistory #familyhistorian #oldphotos #BoulderColorado #myheritage #tangledwebgenealogy #deepnostalgia

More information from MyHeritage.com about the Deep Nostalgia™ animation tool-

Deep Nostalgia

The remarkable technology for animating photos was licensed by MyHeritage from D-ID, a company specializing in video reenactment using deep learning. MyHeritage integrated this technology to animate the faces in historical photos and create high-quality, realistic video footage. The Deep Nostalgia™ feature uses several drivers prepared by MyHeritage. Each driver is a video consisting of a fixed sequence of movements and gestures. Deep Nostalgia™ can very accurately apply the drivers to a face in your still photo, creating a short video that you can share with your friends and family. The driver guides the movements in the animation so you can see your ancestors smile, blink, and turn their heads. This really brings your photos to life!
